Movie details

Soldiers of InnocenceThe Korean War is said to be the forgotten War. That is unless you are talking with one of the many veterans that are still very much alive.

Does anyone think they’ll ever be able to forget the war that raged in Iraq or in Yugoslavia, or the war right now in Afghanistan? Not on your life! It is the same for the generation that went to Korea, and their son’s generation in Viet Nam, and their grandson’s generation in the Middle East. Those men and women did the same things then as the men and women are doing right now--sacrificing lives for freedom! A forgotten war? Who could believe that there is really such a thing? We still remember all the wars that have been fought, and our children, and their children must remember them too!

Soldiers of Innocence One thing about the Korean War that needs to be understood by all Americans is; it is one war that we can tangibly sit back, and with our own eyes see weather it was right what we (America) did back then. A democracy has lived on, where it would not have had we not all joined together. A people who once had nothing, now enjoys the status as a strong world power.

Is War for peace right? Look at the Korean War and the Korea of today, and you will most definitely have to say, yes, war for peace was right then, and it is right now.

THANK them love them and yes; support them. Give them their memorials and their tributes! Give them their rightful place in history. Let the veterans of any war that delivers peace to this earth, stand as the HEROES of YESTERDAY, TODAY, and TOMORROW! For they are truly the Soldiers of Innocence.

Soldiers of Innocence This movie is offered to all veteran groups in The United States of America for the purpose of donating a copy of this film to each elementary school in the United States to be used as a visual aid during the study of Korea (see ‘Lest They Forget’ Campaign at the end of this section).

About the Movie:

You want to know if war for peace is right? Fifty some odd years after the Korean War, Kevin Collins, an ex-Marine, went back to find out.

Standing on the crest of the same mountain that he’d fought on, some 50 years before, he could feel the same feelings, think the same thoughts, and could see the same love that he had found for the first time in his life--back where he found himself serving the last few years of his military career.

Soldiers of Innocence He had served in Europe and the Philippines during W.W.II and finally in Korea. He’d never married, and had not had much time between wars for a long-term relationship with any woman. Stuck behind the lines on one small mountain in Korea, he found himself forced to deal with, not just two women, but two Catholic Nuns. That was not bad enough, and to add fuel to the fire, there were nine snotty nosed kids that needed to be fed and cared for, and protected.

Sisters Anna and Teresa were something else all together, isolated in their own little world where the Saints took care of the worldly problems, they just kind of survived day-to-day.

To Sister Teresa, however, Collins was nothing more than a cold-blooded killer, a devil, representing all that she believed to be bad.

Soldiers of Innocence That war forced them all, the righteous, the young and innocent, and the soldier, to share the same space, the same food, and the same thoughts. They had been brought together for only one purpose . . .survival.

How could the children learn to be adults, the Nuns—soldiers, and the soldier, a caring human being that could grow to be a friend?

“SOLDIERS OF INNOCENCE” a movie that will grab your heart, and will make you laugh and cry at the same time. A movie that has been dedicated to all the children touched in any way by War. The sons and daughters of all the fighting men, both those from Korea, and those from distant lands that respond to the cry for help.

We know how many soldiers were killed in our wars, how many tanks and planes were used, but can anyone tell me how many children were wounded or killed? And where are their memorials?

'Lest They Forget' Campaign: (Under Construction) Watch for new information about this movie, elementary schools in U.S. and the way it will honor and remember the veterans that served our country in that War. A letter from a Hollywood Movie Producer and a U.S. Marine that served in the Korean War, Fritz Manes:

July 30, 2001
Dear Dennis,

The other day when we were talking about “Soldier Of Innocence” it came to me that I should really jot down some observations on this wonderful film.

As you know, I’m most proud that I served with Fox Co., 2nd Batl., 7th Reg., 1st Marine Division in Korea during the period of 1952-1953 – coming home sporting a purple heart!! Of all the films and years in television, that period is probably my proudest memory – The first division sponsored a whole bunch of orphanages through out the county, so when I first saw “Soldiers” to find the principal character so deeply involved with the well being of the kids and nuns was so real and compelling, I felt I’d returned to a time past.

Shooting the entire film in Korea added the stark realism that makes it so exceptional. This just couldn’t be captured on sound stages in Hollywood – nor could the feeling exhibited by the cast of actors, all being Korean – truly well crafted.

The locations and accompanying sets were done in flawless manner – God, I’d almost forgotten about the rock walls and all of that classic architecture . . . An amazing replication! The Gunny’s character was so true to form, not departing the ”real thing” for a single frame of film.

Overall I found the picture to be bigger than life – a very beautiful rendition of the age old American story of the hardened combat vet, never too confronted to care for the health and well being of the delicate women and children and their on going safety – a classic!

Best,
Fritz Manes
